CEDARVILLE, Ohio — The Southwestern Christian University Eagles delivered a spirited showing at the 2026 NCCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, taking on some of the toughest competition in Christian collegiate athletics. The Eagles' efforts showed depth and determination as they battled against championship-caliber squads from around the country.

Men's Team Makes a Mark in the National Standings

Competing on the men's side, the Eagles finished 10th overall at the national championship meet with 27 team points, a solid position in a stacked field that included perennial powers like Malone, Bethel (Ind.), and Cedarville.

One of the most impressive individual performances came from Malachi Weatherly, who sprinted to a 2nd-place finish in the men's 200 meters with a time of 22.02 seconds, earning valuable points for the Eagles and showing that SCU's sprinters could compete with the best in the NCCAA.

Across the meet, Southwestern Christian athletes were consistently scoring in multiple events, contributing to the team's overall national ranking and demonstrating the breadth of talent on the roster.

Eagles Also Represented on the Women's Side

The women's track and field team also competed at the Indoor Championships, completing the meet and gaining important experience in continental-level competition. Southwestern Christian finished 16th in the women's team standings, earning points and showcasing effort in both track and field events.

Although the women's squad wasn't in the team title discussion, their presence at nationals continues the program's momentum and provides vital competitive opportunities for returning athletes.

What This Means for the SCU Program

For the Eagles, competing at the NCCAA Indoor Nationals is both an achievement and a building block for the rest of the season. The team's top-10 placement on the men's side reflects the gains in sprinting and field event disciplines, and standout finishes like Weatherly's runner-up performance set the tone for growth as SCU heads into the outdoor portion of the season.

With several athletes scoring at nationals and others gaining crucial experience against elite competition, Southwestern Christian continues to develop a competitive and confident track and field program within the NCCAA ranks.
