SCU Track & Field Continues Indoor Season at Owen Hewett Invitational

The Southwestern Christian University men's and women's track & field teams continued the 2026 indoor campaign by competing in the Owen Hewett Invitational, the second meet of the season, held January 16 at the Oklahoma-Mosier Indoor Track in Norman, Oklahoma .

On the women's side, sophomore Camryn Miller led the Eagles with a strong performance in the 400 meters, earning a second-place finish with a time of 1:05.35. Miller also competed in the 200 meters, continuing to gain valuable race experience early in the indoor season.

In the field events, senior Lola Hester represented SCU in the shot put, placing 15th overall with a best throw of 9.63 meters (31'7.25"), providing a solid early-season mark for the Eagle.

The men's team turned in multiple standout performances on the track. Malachi Weatherly delivered an impressive meet, winning the 200 meters with a time of 22.11 seconds and finishing third in the 60 meters finals after posting the top preliminary time of 6.94.

In the 400 meters, the Eagles claimed the top two spots as Scott Lynch earned first place in 51.31, followed closely by freshman Jacob Magirowsky in 51.66. Jared Harrington also competed well, placing sixth in the event.

Distance runner Kayden Chaparro added solid finishes in the 800 meters (2:06.41) and the mile (4:40.26), while Kerry Robinson contributed in the field with a sixth-place finish in the long jump at 6.80 meters (22'3.75")

In the throws, Zane Zamanski recorded a strong meet with a second-place finish in the weight throw (14.40m / 47'3") and a ninth-place finish in the shot put. Freshman Noah Williams also competed in both throwing events, gaining valuable experience.

With another competitive meet completed, Southwestern Christian continues to build momentum early in the indoor season as the Eagles look ahead to upcoming meets and continued development across all event groups.
