Bethany, Okla. — Southwestern Christian University has announced the hiring of Jakeem Wynn as the new head coach of the Lady Eagles women's basketball program. Wynn returns to SCU with a strong basketball background, coaching experience, and a deep personal connection to the university.
A standout player in his home state of New Mexico, Wynn entered his senior year of high school ranked 12th statewide and earned District Player of the Year honors as selected by opposing coaches while competing in one of the state's most competitive 6A districts. He continued his playing career at Southwestern Christian University, where he became a key contributor for the Eagles. Among his career highlights was a 23-point performance on 9-of-10 shooting with five steals in a road victory over Wayland Baptist University. Wynn also helped lead SCU to two regional championships and NCCAA postseason appearances during his playing career.
Following graduation, Wynn began his coaching career as a head assistant under Quinn Wooldridge, where he was heavily involved in player skill development, individual workouts, film study, and scouting. He later coached at Yukon Middle School, guiding the seventh-grade team to a 13–4 record and finishing one win short of a championship appearance.
For Wynn, the opportunity to lead the Lady Eagles is a homecoming. Southwestern Christian University played a significant role in shaping him both personally and professionally, and it is also where he met his wife(Tresha Wynn-Yager). As head coach, Wynn is committed to building a program that emphasizes excellence on the court while prioritizing character and faith off the court.
"How we live off the court will always show up in how we perform on it," Wynn said. "We will recruit and develop players who value character, discipline, and servant leadership. The Lady Eagles will be built on faith, accountability, and daily obedience."
Off the court, Wynn has been married since June 16, 2025. He and his wife are proud dog owners to Tucker and Honey, and they are expecting a litter of puppies in early March.
Jakeem Wynn embodies the mission and values of Southwestern Christian University," said Athletic Director Joe Blackwell. He understands SCU and brings a strong passion for developing young women both as competitors and as people. His love for SCU, commitment to faith, and focus on accountability and player development make him an excellent fit for the Lady Eagles."
