On Saturday, we competed at the NAIA/JUCO Challenge Invitational track meet at Pittsburg State University. This was our opening meet of the season.
SCU had a great start to the track season. The Eagles took a very young squad into the meet, but we came out with five individuals qualifying in six events along with two new school records. SCU was pleased with the outcome. "Although most of our athletes competed at a high level in high school, there is always an adjustment when they go run at their first collegiate meet. There is a bit of a "Wow Factor'' especially at Pitt State's facility" says coach Parent. The Eagles took 5th in the national meet in our first meet.
Qualifiers were:
Drelen Swanson- 60m dash 7.12 and 200m dash 23.18
Kerry Robinson- 400m dash 52.06
Tyler Dechant- 60m Hurdles 8.98
Kelsey Drapeau- LJ 5.46/17'11 (New School Record- old school record 17'2 by Kelsey Drapeau last season at the NCCAA National Indoor Meet)
Danielle Noble- SP 40' 11 (New School Record- old school record 40' 2 by Sasha Wilson in 2020 at the OU Invitational)
The Eagles look to build on their wonderful performance as the are in action again January 28th at the Herm Wilson Invitational.
