Eagles Bring Home Two Titles at NCA Championships

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.—Southwestern Christian University won another national cheer championship last Friday at the NCA Collegiate Cheer Championships in Daytona Beach. This marks back-to-back national championships for SCU as the 2020 championships were cancelled due to covid-19.

For the first time, Southwestern Christian is coming home with two titles, winning the Advanced Large Coed Open Division for the second time, as well as also taking home a championship title in the Intermediate All-Girl NAIA division.

In the All-Girl division, SCU found themselves in first place after a preliminary score of 95.3. They would easily defeat second place Texas Wesleyan in the finals, scoring a 94.575, seven points up on Texas Wesleyan's score of 87.5.

The Large Coed Open Division saw SCU in second place after a preliminary score of 90.7667. Lindenwood University would be in first place with a score of 91.95. The Eagles had an incredible finals performance, though, boosting their score up to 93.4042, two points higher than Lindenwood.
