DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.—Southwestern Christian University won another national cheer championship last Friday at the NCA Collegiate Cheer Championships in Daytona Beach. This marks back-to-back national championships for SCU as the 2020 championships were cancelled due to covid-19.
For the first time, Southwestern Christian is coming home with two titles, winning the Advanced Large Coed Open Division for the second time, as well as also taking home a championship title in the Intermediate All-Girl NAIA division.
In the All-Girl division, SCU found themselves in first place after a preliminary score of 95.3. They would easily defeat second place Texas Wesleyan in the finals, scoring a 94.575, seven points up on Texas Wesleyan's score of 87.5.
The Large Coed Open Division saw SCU in second place after a preliminary score of 90.7667. Lindenwood University would be in first place with a score of 91.95. The Eagles had an incredible finals performance, though, boosting their score up to 93.4042, two points higher than Lindenwood.
