Southwestern Christian University proudly joins institutions across the nation in celebrating National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Observed annually on the first Wednesday of February, NGWSD recognizes the achievements, contributions, and lasting impact of women in athletics, while also promoting continued growth and opportunity for future generations.
At SCU, women's athletics play a vital role in campus life and the university's mission. The Eagles' women's sports programs include softball, basketball, soccer, volleyball, track and field, cheer, and golf, each providing student-athletes with opportunities to compete, lead, and grow both on and off the field. These programs emphasize discipline, teamwork, and faith, while empowering women to reach their full potential.
National Girls & Women in Sports Day is more than a celebration of competition—it is a recognition of perseverance, leadership, and the barriers broken by women in sports. From practice fields and courts to classrooms and communities, SCU's female student-athletes serve as role models, demonstrating commitment, resilience, and excellence.
SCU continues to support and uplift women in athletics by fostering an environment that values opportunity, inclusion, and development. As the university celebrates NGWSD, it also reaffirms its commitment to honoring the past, celebrating the present, and inspiring the future of women in sports.
On February 4, SCU proudly celebrates the women who wear the Eagle uniform and all those who have paved the way—past, present, and future—for girls and women in sports.
