OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — The Southwestern Christian University men's golf team opened the 2026 season with an impressive second-place finish at its home tournament, the Southwestern Christian Invitational, held Aug. 31 through Sept. 1 at Lincoln Park Golf Course in Oklahoma City.

The Eagles finished the three-round tournament with a team score of 24-over par, finishing behind tournament champion Hesston College at 13-over. SCU narrowly edged Central Baptist College, which finished third at 29-over.

SCU's strong performance was led by Jace Noey, who finished second individually with an even-par score for the tournament. Noey was one of the top performers in the field and helped lead the Eagles to their runner-up team finish.

Cayden Sherwood also had a strong tournament for the Eagles, finishing tied for sixth at 4-over par. The performance placed him among the top players in a competitive field.

The Eagles received additional contributions from Matthew King, Caden Stevens, Ethan Robbins, and several other members of the SCU lineup throughout the three-day event. The tournament also featured a second SCU team, SCU (B), which finished seventh overall at 61-over par.

The Southwestern Christian Invitational marked the first tournament of the season for the SCU men's golf program and gave the Eagles a strong start to the 2026 campaign on their home course.

With a second-place team finish and multiple golfers near the top of the individual leaderboard, Southwestern Christian will look to carry that momentum into the remainder of its fall schedule.
