4/30/2026 9:48:00 AM

Southwestern Christian University is celebrating a remarkable achievement this spring, as seven of its standout student-athletes have been recognized as NAIA Spring Scholar-Athletes. Representing both the Eagles' baseball and softball programs, these individuals have demonstrated excellence not only on the field but also in the classroom.

Leading the group is senior softball player Alexis Underwood, whose consistent performance and leadership have been instrumental to the team's success. Joining her from the softball program are fellow seniors Hannah Keele, Jessica Czikra, and Jessie Moralez. Each has played a key role in building a competitive program while maintaining the high academic standards required for this prestigious honor.

On the baseball side, senior Dario Paredes earned recognition for his dedication throughout his collegiate career, balancing the demands of athletics with academic achievement. Juniors James Folsom and Mason Branch were also honored, highlighting the depth of talent and commitment within the program's underclassmen.

The NAIA Scholar-Athlete designation is awarded to student-athletes who maintain a minimum GPA while contributing to their respective sports, making it one of the most respected academic honors in collegiate athletics. For Southwestern Christian University, having seven athletes recognized in a single season reflects a culture that prioritizes both academic integrity and athletic excellence.

As these athletes continue their journeys—whether graduating seniors preparing for life beyond college or juniors building toward future success—they set a powerful example of what it means to truly excel as student-athletes. Their achievements underscore the mission of Southwestern Christian University: developing leaders who thrive in all areas of life.
