Game Recap: Baseball |

dominant and complete series performance

Southwestern Christian University delivered a dominant three-game sweep over Oklahoma Panhandle State, showcasing both explosive offense and clutch pitching. Here's a game-by-game breakdown of the series:

Game 1: SCU 17, OPSU 5

The Eagles opened the series with an offensive explosion, scoring 17 runs on 13 hits in a commanding win. After OPSU struck first, SCU answered immediately with a three-run first inning and continued to build momentum throughout the game.

Royce Florenzano led the charge with a monster performance, driving in nine runs and blasting two home runs. Nate Anderson scored three runs and consistently got on base, while Bryan Melo and Braden Browning added key RBIs to fuel the attack.

On the mound, Anderson Paredes was solid, tossing seven innings with eight strikeouts to earn the win and keep OPSU from mounting any serious comeback.

Game 2: SCU 5, OPSU 4

Game two proved to be much tighter, but SCU found a way to come out on top in a one-run battle. The Eagles jumped ahead early thanks to a two-RBI single from Dominic Ornelas in the first inning.

After OPSU rallied to take a late lead, SCU responded in the fourth inning when Eliam Dudamel delivered a clutch two-run double to tie the game.

The game remained tied until the seventh, when SCU capitalized on a wild pitch to score the go-ahead run. Jackson Robertson shut the door out of the bullpen, throwing three scoreless innings with four strikeouts to secure the victory.

Game 3: SCU 22, OPSU 8

The Eagles closed the series in dominant fashion, erupting for 22 runs in a high-scoring finale. Despite falling behind 4-0 in the first inning, SCU responded immediately with five runs, highlighted by back-to-back home runs from Dario Paredes and Dominic Ornelas.

From there, the offense never slowed down. SCU added three runs in the third, six in the fifth, and an explosive eight-run sixth inning to put the game out of reach.

Dario Paredes led the way with seven RBIs and a home run, while Bryan Melo added a three-run homer and four RBIs. Multiple Eagles recorded multi-hit games, showcasing the depth of the lineup.

Jacob Hogan earned the win in relief, helping stabilize the game after the early deficit.

Series Takeaway

Across all three games, SCU's offense was relentless, totaling 44 runs in the series. Whether in a blowout or a close contest, the Eagles consistently found ways to produce, combining power hitting with timely execution.

With the sweep, Southwestern Christian builds strong momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.
