BETHANY, Okla. — The Southwestern Christian University men's soccer team earned its second victory of the season in impressive fashion Wednesday, defeating Ozark Christian College 10-0 at home.
The Eagles improved to 2-0-0 on the season with a dominant performance on both ends of the field. SCU scored five goals in the first half and added five more in the second half while limiting Ozark Christian College to just four shots.
SCU wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. Alessio Purnelle opened the scoring in the fifth minute off an assist from Gabin Desplats. Curtis Clarke followed with two goals, helping the Eagles quickly build a commanding lead. Desplats added a goal of his own as Southwestern Christian entered halftime with a 5-0 advantage.
The Eagles continued their offensive attack after halftime. Charles Jones scored early in the second half before Desplats converted a penalty kick to make it 7-0.
Alberto Guerrero added another penalty kick goal in the 75th minute, while Hugo Ivarson finished the match with two late goals to complete the 10-0 victory.
Clarke led the Eagles with a hat trick, while Desplats recorded two goals and three assists. Ivarson also scored twice, and Purnelle, Jones and Guerrero each added a goal.
Southwestern Christian controlled the match statistically, recording 30 shots and 20 shots on goal, compared to just four total shots from Ozark Christian College. Goalkeeper Axel Tricot recorded three saves to preserve the shutout.
With the victory, the Eagles remain unbeaten and move to 2-0 on the season
