VICTORIA, Texas — Southwestern Christian University men's soccer battled A&M-Victoria to a 1-1 draw on Saturday, Sept. 19, at The Cage.
The Eagles entered the match unbeaten at 4-0 and came away with another result against a strong A&M-Victoria squad, which entered the contest at 4-0-1
A&M-Victoria struck first in the 19th minute when Brayan Lino found the back of the net to give the Jaguars a 1-0 advantage.
SCU answered just 15 seconds later. Mateo Prieto scored his first goal of the season in the 19th minute, with Gabin Desplats providing the assist to quickly level the match at 1-1.
The Eagles carried the momentum into the second half, creating several scoring opportunities while holding A&M-Victoria scoreless over the final 45 minutes.
SCU finished the match with a 17-8 advantage in shots and earned seven corner kicks compared to two for A&M-Victoria. The Eagles also put five shots on goal, forcing four saves from the Jaguars' goalkeeper.
Goalkeeper Axel Tricot played all 90 minutes for SCU and recorded one save.
Desplats led the Eagles with five shots, while Alessio Purnelle and Augustine Mateos each recorded two. Prieto finished with one shot on goal and the Eagles' lone goal of the match.
Following the draw, SCU moved to 4-0-1 on the season.
The Eagles will look to continue their unbeaten start to the season in their next contest.
