STERLING, Kan. — Southwestern Christian University women's soccer delivered a dominant offensive performance Friday, recording a record-breaking 53 shots in a 4-1 victory over Sterling College.
The Eagles controlled the match from the opening whistle, finishing with 33 shots on goal while limiting Sterling to just two total shots. The win improved SCU's record to 3-0-0 on the season.
SCU wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. Shosona Graham scored the first goal of the match in the eighth minute off an assist from Sofia Jimenez, giving the Eagles an early 1-0 lead.
The Eagles continued their offensive surge as Abbigail Johnson converted a penalty kick in the 18th minute. Just moments later, Yuli Montesflores found the back of the net to give Southwestern Christian a commanding 3-0 advantage.
Sterling answered with a goal from April Isbell less than a minute later, but the Eagles maintained control throughout the remainder of the match.
SCU continued to apply relentless pressure in the second half, firing another 26 shots after recording 27 in the opening period.
The Eagles added their final goal in the 84th minute when Hadley McLanahan scored off an assist from Madison Bussey, securing the 4-1 victory.
McLanahan and Johnson led SCU with nine shots each, while Alexandrea Villalobos added eight shots. Graham contributed five shots and a goal as the Eagles displayed their depth throughout the record-setting offensive performance.
Defensively, goalkeeper Lorelai Puglisi recorded a save for SCU as the Eagles limited Sterling to only two shots during the entire match.
With the victory, the Eagles remain unbeaten at 3-0 and continue their strong start to the 2026 season.
