BETHANY, Okla. — Southwestern Christian University men's soccer picked up its first win of the 2026 season Friday afternoon, defeating Friends University 4-2 in Bethany.
The Eagles overcame an early deficit with a pair of first-half goals before adding two more in the second half to secure the victory.
Friends University struck first in the 12th minute when Kal Coulthard found the back of the net. SCU responded in the 25th minute as Lucas Giacomini scored his first goal of the season to even the match at 1-1.
Just under three minutes later, the Eagles took their first lead of the afternoon. Curtis Clarke finished a scoring opportunity in the 28th minute off an assist from Gabin Desplats, sending SCU into halftime with a 2-1 advantage.
The Eagles continued their momentum in the second half. Augustine Mateos extended the lead in the 57th minute, again with Desplats providing the assist. Friends answered with a penalty-kick goal in the 59th minute to cut the SCU lead to 3-2.
SCU answered once again.
Charles Jones scored the Eagles' fourth goal in the 73rd minute, finishing an opportunity assisted by Nicolas Falco to give Southwestern Christian the final 4-2 advantage.
The Eagles controlled much of the offensive action, outshooting Friends 11-7 and putting 10 shots on goal. Desplats led SCU with two assists, while four different Eagles found the back of the net.
Goalkeeper Axel Tricot played all 90 minutes for Southwestern Christian and recorded two saves in the victory.
With the win, the Eagles celebrate their first victory of the season and build momentum moving forward in the 2026 campaign.
