BETHANY, Okla. — The Southwestern Christian University women's soccer team continued its strong start to the 2026 season Wednesday, earning a 2-1 victory over LSU Shreveport to improve to 2-0 on the year.
SCU got on the board first in the 24th minute when Abbigail Johnson found the back of the net off an assist from Sofia Jimenez. The goal was Johnson's third of the season and gave the Eagles an early 1-0 advantage.
LSU Shreveport answered later in the first half, scoring in the 38th minute to even the match at 1-1 heading into halftime.
The Eagles found the game-winning goal in the second half. Shosona Graham scored in the 71st minute, once again with Jimenez providing the assist. The goal was Graham's second of the season and gave SCU the 2-1 lead.
Jimenez played a key role in the victory, assisting on both SCU goals.
Defensively, goalkeeper Lorelai Puglisi helped the Eagles hold on to the lead, recording six saves. SCU was tested throughout the match, as LSU Shreveport finished with 17 shots and 10 corner kicks, but the Eagles' defense stood strong in the closing minutes to secure the victory.
Johnson and Graham led the Eagles offensively with one goal each, while Jimenez finished with two assists.
With the win, Southwestern Christian improves to 2-0 to start the season, giving the Eagles back-to-back victories as they continue their early-season schedule.
