Seven SCU Programs Earn Sooner Athletic Conference Scholar Team Honors

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Southwestern Christian University continued to excel in the classroom during the 2025-26 academic year as seven athletic programs were recognized as Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) All-Academic Scholar Teams, the conference office announced Tuesday.

The annual Scholar Team Award recognizes athletic programs that achieve a minimum 3.00 cumulative team GPA among their student-athletes. A total of 129 teams across the Sooner Athletic Conference earned the distinction this year, highlighting the conference's commitment to academic excellence.

Southwestern Christian was among the conference leaders with 11 teams recognized on the Scholar Team list, joining John Brown, Nelson, Oklahoma Panhandle State, and Science & Arts. Oklahoma City University, Texas Wesleyan, and Wayland Baptist led the conference with 15 Scholar Teams each.

Leading the way for the Eagles was Women's Basketball, which posted an impressive 3.60 team GPA, the highest among the SCU programs recognized.

Three additional programs recorded outstanding 3.40 team GPAs, including Men's Soccer, Softball, and Volleyball.

SCU's recognized Scholar Teams included:

  • Women's Basketball3.60 GPA

  • Men's Soccer3.40 GPA

  • Softball3.40 GPA

  • Volleyball3.40 GPA

  • Baseball3.30 GPA

  • Men's Golf3.10 GPA

  • Men's Basketball3.00 GPA

The Scholar Team Awards are a testament to the dedication of SCU's student-athletes, coaches, faculty, and academic support staff, who continue to pursue excellence both in competition and in the classroom. Balancing the demands of collegiate athletics with academic success is no small achievement, and these honors reflect the commitment of Eagle student-athletes to representing Southwestern Christian University with integrity and distinction.

With seven programs posting GPAs of 3.00 or higher—including four teams at 3.40 or above—the Eagles once again demonstrated that success at Southwestern Christian University extends far beyond the playing field.
