Splits at McPherson

The Southwestern Christian softball team showcased its offensive firepower in Game 1 before running into a tough start in Game 2, finishing with a split-style performance on the road against McPherson on Feb. 27.

Game 1: Fast Start Powers Eagles to 11–7 Win

Southwestern Christian erupted early and held off a late push to secure an 11–7 victory in the opener.

The Eagles wasted no time setting the tone, scoring four runs in the first inning behind aggressive base running and timely extra-base hits. K. Coy delivered a key triple and drove in four runs, while T. Norwood added a double and two RBIs to fuel the early surge.

SCU continued to build its lead with multi-run innings in the second and third, highlighted by R. Tom's three-hit performance and consistent pressure on the base-paths. The Eagles tallied 12 hits and stole several bases to keep McPherson's defense on its heels.

McPherson answered with 15 hits of its own and chipped away late, but SCU pitchers J. Czikra, G. Wendling, and L. King combined to hold the advantage and close out the win.

Game 2: Early Deficit Too Much to Overcome

In the nightcap, McPherson capitalized on a five-run first inning and never trailed in an 8–2 decision.

Southwestern Christian struck first with an RBI ground-out from S. Gilbert to take a 1–0 lead, but McPherson quickly responded with a big inning that included a three-run double and additional run-scoring hits to swing momentum.

The Eagles managed six hits in the game, with H. Keele recording two, while E. Garza and S. Gilbert added doubles. SCU cut the deficit to 5–2 midway through the contest but could not generate another rally against McPherson pitcher S. Hollingsw, who went the distance in the circle.

Despite the loss, SCU turned a pair of defensive double plays and continued to show flashes offensively throughout the game.
