SCU Softball Splits Four-Game Series with MACU
The Southwestern Christian University softball team battled cross-town rival Mid-America Christian University in a four-game series at Allen Field in Oklahoma City, with the teams splitting the weekend set two games apiece.
Southwestern Christian showed resilience throughout the series, earning a comeback win and a shutout victory while MACU claimed the opening game and the finale in close contests.
Game 1: MACU Pulls Away Late, 8–6
Southwestern Christian opened the series with a strong start, scoring two runs in the first inning and adding three more in the fourth to take a 5–4 lead. Jessie Moralez highlighted the offensive effort with a three-RBI performance, while Hannah Keele recorded three hits for the Eagles.
Mid-America Christian responded with a four-run fifth inning to regain the lead and held off the Eagles down the stretch to secure the 8–6 victory. MACU finished with 16 hits in the game while SCU recorded nine.
Game 2: Eagles Rally for 5–4 Win
Southwestern Christian bounced back later that day with a dramatic 5–4 comeback victory.
The Eagles grabbed an early 2–0 advantage before MACU scored four runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take the lead. SCU answered in the sixth on an Alexis Underwood sacrifice fly before completing the comeback in the seventh inning when Kelsie McCollom delivered a two-run single to put the Eagles ahead.
Kylee Coy led the offense with three hits, and Macey Weger earned the win in relief with two scoreless innings.
Game 3: King Throws Shutout in 8–0 Victory
The Eagles carried the momentum into Sunday's opener, dominating MACU in an 8–0 shutout.
SCU scored in four different innings and totaled 12 hits in the contest. Hannah Keele led the offense with three hits and two runs scored, while Ebony Garza added two hits.
Lainey King was outstanding in the circle, pitching a complete-game shutout while allowing just four hits to earn the win.
Game 4: MACU Walks Off in Series Finale
The series concluded with a tightly contested pitcher's duel that MACU won 2–1.
After MACU scored in the first inning, SCU tied the game in the third when Trinity Norwood blasted a solo home run to center field. Both teams remained locked in the defensive battle until the bottom of the seventh inning when MACU delivered a walk-off RBI single to claim the win.
Kylee Coy led the Eagles offensively with three hits in the game.
