BETHANY, Okla. — Southwestern Christian women's soccer kept its strong start rolling with a 3-1 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State on Saturday, extending the Eagles' unbeaten run to eight matches.
SCU wasted little time getting on the board as Shosona Graham netted her fifth goal of the season in the fourth minute, assisted by Riley Stanfill. After carrying a 1-0 lead into halftime, the Eagles broke the game open late in the second half. Rachel Foster struck in the 78th minute on a setup from Abbigail Johnson, and Johnson added a goal of her own just four minutes later, assisted by goalkeeper Lorelai Puglisi.
OPSU managed to pull one back quickly after, with Celeste Maldonado scoring in the 83rd minute, but the Eagles' defense and Puglisi's six saves secured the win.
With the result, Southwestern Christian improved to 8-0-1 overall and 1-0 in Sooner Athletic Conference play, while OPSU dropped to 3-3 and 0-1.
