HESSTON, Kan. — Southwestern Christian University women's soccer kept its undefeated start alive Saturday, edging Hesston College 3-2 at Sieber Field.
The Eagles (7-0-1) wasted no time setting the tone, striking three times in the opening 22 minutes. Riley Stanfill led the way with two goals, first converting in the 14th minute off a combination from Monse Villacres and Shosona Graham, then doubling the lead just three minutes later with an assist from Camryn Miller. Freshman Katelyn Fisher added her first career goal in the 22nd minute, also assisted by Miller, to make it 3-0.
Hesston responded late, pulling two goals back in the second half from Kristyn Oliver and Rena Itoga. But goalkeeper Lorelai Puglisi and the SCU back line held firm, with Puglisi collecting four saves to preserve the win.
SCU outshot Hesston 18-11, including a 12-6 advantage in shots on target. Stanfill paced the attack with seven shots and four on goal, while Graham added five shots and an assist.
With the win, Southwestern Christian remains unbeaten and will look to carry its early-season momentum deeper into conference play.
