BETHANY, Okla. — Southwestern Christian men's soccer delivered a commanding performance Saturday, rolling past Hesston College 4-0 to improve to 5-1-1 on the season.
The Eagles struck early and often, beginning with Yuki Yabunaka's first goal of the season in the 11th minute. Otavio Avila doubled the advantage in the 33rd minute, assisted by Romeo De Stefano, before Shonosuke Suzuki added a third just before halftime, finishing a combination from Augustine Mateos and Adam Byzda.
Avila found the net again in the 76th minute, this time assisted by Vinicuius Cruz, to complete the scoring and secure his brace.
SCU controlled the match throughout, outshooting Hesston 13-2 and piling up 10 corner kicks. Goalkeeper Axel Tricot earned the clean sheet with one save as the back line held Hesston without a shot on goal until late in the second half.
With the win, the Eagles extended their strong start to the year and will look to carry momentum into conference play.
