Eagles Drop 2 Games

Southwestern Christian Volleyball Drops Two-Straight Matches Against Wayland Baptist and Oklahoma Panhandle State

Southwestern Christian University's volleyball squad faced tough back-to-back road matches this week, falling in straight sets to both Wayland Baptist (TX) and Oklahoma Panhandle State, leaving the Eagles still in search of their first win of the season.

Wayland Baptist (TX) — Loss, 0-3

Date: September 12, 2025 in Plainview, Texas

  • Wayland Baptist swept SCU in three sets, 25-14, 25-16, 25-12.

  • Offensively, Wayland stood out with 43 kills on .350 hitting compared to SCU's 24 kills on .018 hitting.

  • Top performer for SCU: Margarita Vargas Neira with 6 kills; Kloe Booker-Searcy and Jovana Perovic also contributed significantly.

Oklahoma Panhandle State — Loss, 0-3

Date: September 13, 2025 in Goodwell, Oklahoma

  • SCU again was unable to take a set, losing 25-20, 25-5, 25-9.

  • OPSU's offense was much stronger, putting down 41 kills while SCU managed 19. OPSU hit .313 in total, SCU around –.020.

  • Individual bright spots for SCU: Jovana Perovic led with 5 kills, Kloe Booker-Searcy and Emery Hulme added 4 apiece.

Takeaways

  • The Eagles continue to struggle to find a rhythm early in matches, especially under offensive pressure from their opponents.

  • Hitting percentage has been a major issue — SCU's low efficiency against these two teams made mounting comebacks difficult.

  • Defensively, digs numbers have been respectable at times, but not enough to compensate for offensive shortcomings.

SCU remains winless through seven matches (0-7), and now must regroup as they head deeper into conference play. A sharper offensive showing and steadier sets could be key in their upcoming matchups.
