Southwestern Christian men's soccer turned in its most dominant outing of the season Thursday, storming past Our Lady of the Lake with a 5–0 victory. The Eagles put on a clinic on both ends of the field, moving to 3-1-1 on the year while handing the Saints their third loss.
The tone was set early. Just four minutes into the match, Louis Dufraiche broke free and finished off a feed from Pedro Belmont to put SCU on the board. Less than 10 minutes later, Augustine Mateos doubled the advantage, giving the Eagles all the momentum and a 2–0 edge at the break.
If the first half was about control, the second half was about finishing. Belmont added to his stat line with a goal midway through the period, Sergio Alvarez followed with his first of the year, and Mathieu Barbirati buried the fifth in the closing minutes to punctuate the rout.
While the attack grabbed the spotlight, the defense was just as sharp. Keeper Enzo Camps recorded two saves and anchored a back line that limited OLLU to just five shots all night. The Eagles, meanwhile, peppered the Saints' defense with 20 shots, 13 of them on frame.
The win showcased SCU's depth, with five different players finding the back of the net and several others chipping in key assists. It was the kind of complete performance that can build momentum as conference play heats up.
Southwestern Christian now turns its attention to the next test, riding high on confidence after proving they can overwhelm opponents with both firepower and defensive discipline.
