SHREVEPORT, La. — Southwestern Christian men's soccer showed grit and quality on the road Saturday, building a two-goal lead before settling for a 2–2 draw with LSU Shreveport.
The Eagles struck first just before halftime as Otavio Avila converted in the 41st minute after a perfectly timed assist from Pedro Belmont. SCU carried that momentum into the second half, doubling the advantage in the 59th minute when Augustine Mateos delivered a composed finish to make it 2–0.
Southwestern Christian controlled stretches of the match and created multiple chances, but LSU Shreveport was able to equalize with two goals against the run of play in the final 30 minutes. Despite the late push from the Pilots, the Eagles' back line held strong down the stretch, anchored by goalkeeper Enzo Camps, who tallied three saves.
The result moves SCU to 1-1-1 on the season, with plenty of positives to build on after showing they can compete and take command in a tough road environment.
