The Southwestern Christian University men's soccer team kicked off the 2025 season with a 1–0 victory over University of the Southwest on Thursday.
The game's only goal came in the 66th minute when Vinicius Cruz scored on a penalty kick to put the Eagles ahead.
SCU out shot Southwest 15–9, applying steady pressure throughout both halves. Cruz, along with strikers Pedro Belmont and Augustine Mateos, led the offensive push, combining for several quality chances. Goalkeeper Enzo Camps anchored the defense with five saves en route to his first clean sheet of the year.
The match was physical, featuring four yellow cards, including two late cautions against SCU. Despite the intensity, the Eagles remained composed and held their lead until the final whistle.
The Eagles move to 1–0 on the year and will look to keep building momentum in their next match.
