Bethany, Okla. -
In the conclusion to the conference series, neither Southwestern Christian University or Mid-American Christian University could find an edge against the other. With a final series score of 2 - 2, the two Eagles head into the last series of the regular season at 25-19 (16-16).
Game 3
SCU got off to a great start on the day, shutting out the Evangels and finishing the match with a 5-0 win.
Lainey King was awarded the win for the Eagles after pitching all seven innings and only allowing five hits, backed up by a strong defensive performance from the Eagles. Offensively, lead-off hitter
Hannah Keele went 3-4 with 2 RBIs and a stolen bag, resulting in a run in the third and fifth innings.
Danielle Burleson and
Shakyrah Gladness also put up strong performances, with Burleson's RBI putting the Eagles on the board first in the second inning, while Gladness went 2-2, crossing the plate twice. Both players had a hit by pitch as well.
Lexi Cahwee and
Madison Jones both knocked a double, while
Aamiyah Roberson and
Maliyah Patton found an RBI each.
Game 4
The offense would go quiet in Game 4, unfortunately, only being able to pick up four hits through seven innings.
Danielle Burleson found the team's only extra-base hit with a double, but it was not enough as the Eagles fell by a final of 5-0. Mid-America's lineup flipped the script on the Eagles, finding nine hits in the contest against Eagles starter
Lauren Schallert.
Jessica Czikra pitched in relief, but could not shut down the Evangels bats, allowing two runs in her appearance. Burleson's two-hit game was aided by
Hannah Keele and
Lexi Cahwee, who each found a hit of their own.
Holly Elam had one hit-by-pitch.
Following the series split, SCU travels to Oklahoma Panhandle State Univeristy to take on their conference opponent in the last series of the regular season. As the team looks ahead to the conference tournament, they hope to enter the postseason on the right foot.
