GOODWELL, Okla. — Southwestern Christian men's basketball remained unbeaten after edging Northern New Mexico 83–76 in an overtime showdown Friday afternoon at the No Man's Land Classic.
The Eagles (2–0) led by three at halftime and survived a late rally from the Eagles of Northern New Mexico (0–3), sealing the win with clutch free throws and big defensive plays down the stretch.
JaColby Williams turned in a dominant double-double, recording 22 points and 12 rebounds while hitting key shots in overtime, including a deep three to push SCU ahead for good. Michal Wooldridge added 19 points and six rebounds, while Jalen Goar scored 12 points and dished out four assists.
After a back-and-forth second half that ended tied at 70, Southwestern Christian took control in the extra period. Williams opened overtime with a jumper and later knocked down a crucial three-pointer to cap a 13–6 run. Aiden Todd hit two free throws in the final seconds to close out the victory.
SCU finished the game shooting 41 percent from the floor and dominated the paint with 42 points inside. The Eagles also forced 17 turnovers, converting them into 21 points.
Northern New Mexico's Harkirath Makhar kept his team in it with a game-high 36 points, including eight three-pointers, but SCU's balanced attack and overtime composure proved too much.
Southwestern Christian will continue play at the No Man's Land Classic on Saturday as they look to stay unbeaten to start the 2025–26 season.
