Southwestern Christian women's basketball rolled to another strong win, defeating Hesston College 89–47 on Saturday afternoon at the Sheaffer Center. With the victory, the Lady Eagles improved to 2–0 to open the season.
SCU set the tone early, exploding for 30 points in the first quarter while holding Hesston to just 8. That fast start helped the Eagles build a lead they never surrendered.
Chrissen Harland and Brooke Robertson led the way with 17 points each. Harland attacked the rim and finished in transition, while Robertson stayed hot from beyond the arc, knocking down five threes.
Shakyrah Gladness gave SCU a big boost off the bench, posting 14 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Summer Fergerson added 10 points, and Kaydrin Scott filled the stat sheet with 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.
The Eagles controlled the game on both ends—shooting 45% from the field, hitting 10 three-pointers, and forcing Hesston into mistakes that led to 27 points off turnovers. SCU's depth also shined, with 37 points coming from the bench.
SCU continues non-conference play next week, looking to keep the early-season momentum rolling.
