HUNTSVILLE, Texas — Southwestern Christian University women's basketball faced its toughest test yet Tuesday night, going up against NCAA Division I Sam Houston. Despite a gritty effort, the Lady Eagles fell 58–39 on the road at Johnson Coliseum.

It was the third game of the season for SCU, which showed it could hang with a D1 opponent through much of the first half. The Lady Eagles trailed by just one at halftime, 23–22, after outscoring the Bearkats 17–15 in the second quarter.

Jayden Mason continued her strong start to the year, leading SCU with 15 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists. Shak Gladness added eight points and seven rebounds, while Brooke Robertson and Chrissen Harland helped hold their own on the boards against a much bigger lineup.

Sam Houston used its size advantage to control the paint and create extra opportunities, finishing with 32 offensive rebounds and 26 second-chance points. The Bearkats pulled away in the second half behind a 17–9 third-quarter run.

SCU shot 33% from the field and 65% from the free-throw line, showing composure and effort despite the D1 challenge.
