BETHANY, Okla. — Southwestern Christian University volleyball put up two strong efforts over the weekend, hosting John Brown University on Friday and College of the Ozarks on Saturday inside Pickens-Springer Gymnasium.
On Friday night, the Lady Eagles went point-for-point early with John Brown, narrowly dropping the opening set 25–23. The Golden Eagles went on to take the next two frames 25–20 and 25–17, but SCU showed balance on offense with Megan Graham tallying six kills and nine assists. Brianna DeVries added five kills, while Angeles Tejada and Emery Hulme each notched five and six kills, respectively.
The following day, SCU faced College of the Ozarks and continued to show improvement despite a 3–0 loss (25–22, 25–17, 25–21). DeVries turned in one of her best performances of the season with 11 kills on a .344 hitting percentage, while Graham and Margarita Vargas each recorded seven kills. Libero Lisa Gomez Lopez anchored the defense with 15 digs, and Graham dished out 19 assists.
Southwestern Christian (2–23, 1–19 SAC) will look to build on its recent play as the regular season continues, with several conference matchups still ahead on the schedule.
