Bethany, Okla. — October 4, 2025 — Southwestern Christian University's women's soccer team battled hard but came up just short in a 1–0 loss to nationally ranked and undefeated Oklahoma City University on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Eagles (8–2–1, 0–2 SAC) held their own against an Oklahoma City squad that entered the match 9–0–2, conceding just one goal late in the first half. OCU's Reese Roberts scored in the 39th minute, providing the lone goal of the contest.
Southwestern Christian's defense, anchored by goalkeeper Lorelai Puglisi, stood tall under pressure. Puglisi was a standout in goal, recording seven saves on 18 shots faced. Defenders Nerea Arranz, Sofia Ovando, and Payton Donnell played key roles in keeping OCU off the scoreboard for most of the match.
Offensively, SCU created a pair of chances from Sofia Jimenez and Aven DeFalco, each registering a shot on goal. However, Oklahoma City's goalkeeper Candela Blanco managed two saves to preserve the clean sheet.
Despite the loss, the match showcased the Eagles' resilience and defensive discipline against one of the Sooner Athletic Conference's top programs. SCU will look to regroup and bounce back in its next matchup as conference play continues.
