PLAINVIEW, Texas — Southwestern Christian University continued its strong season with a 2–0 road win over Wayland Baptist on Tuesday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half, the Lady Eagles broke through in the 60th minute when Monse Villacres found the back of the net for the opening goal. Just six minutes later, Sofia Jimenez doubled the lead off an assist from Abbigail Johnson, giving SCU all the insurance it needed.
Goalkeeper Lorelai Puglisi anchored the defense with six saves in the shutout, helping the Eagles improve to 9-2-1 overall and 2-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
Villacres led SCU's attack with four shots, including three on target, while Jimenez added two shots and her third goal of the season.
The win marks the Eagles' ninth of the year as they look to build momentum heading deeper into conference play.
