Southwestern Christian University women's soccer wrapped up its regular season in convincing fashion Tuesday afternoon, blanking Central Christian College (Kan.) 2–0 at home in Bethany.
After a scoreless first half despite dominating possession and outshooting the Tigers 13–2, the Lady Eagles broke through shortly after halftime. Senior forward Abbigail Johnson netted her 11th goal of the season in the 47th minute, assisted by Monse Villacres, giving SCU the 1–0 lead.
The Eagles continued to pressure the Central Christian defense, firing 24 total shots and forcing seven saves from Tiger goalkeeper Macy Clements. Riley Stanfill sealed the win in the 89th minute with her eighth goal of the season to make it 2–0.
Goalkeeper Lorelai Puglisi recorded the clean sheet, needing just one save to secure her team's 13th victory of the year.
With the win, Southwestern Christian improved to 13–4–1 overall and 6–4 in SAC play, entering postseason play with strong momentum and a defense that has allowed just one goal over the last three matches.
