OKLAHOMA CITY — Southwestern Christian University women's soccer battled to the final whistle but came up short in a 4–2 loss to Mid-America Christian in the opening round of the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament on Wednesday night at Dill Soccer Field.
The Lady Eagles (12–5–1) showed resilience after falling behind 4–0, rallying for a pair of late goals to close the gap. Abbigail Johnson put SCU on the board in the 79th minute with a penalty kick — her 12th goal of the season — before Rachel Foster added another strike in the 84th minute to cut the deficit in half.
Mid-America Christian (11–3–3) was led by standout forward Brae Baker, who recorded a hat trick with goals in the 42nd, 43rd, and 62nd minutes. Gladis Avalos added a score in the 56th.
Goalkeeper Lorelai Puglisi turned away seven shots as the Lady Eagles faced a relentless MACU attack that produced 20 total shots. SCU managed eight of its own, with seven on target.
While the loss ends SCU's run in conference play, the Lady Eagles' season is far from over. Southwestern Christian has earned a berth to compete in the NCCAA National Tournament in Florida, where they'll look to extend a successful 2025 campaign and chase a national championship.
