Southwestern Christian University women's volleyball broke through in impressive fashion Thursday night, securing its first win of the season with a 3–1 road victory (25–16, 25–23, 26–28, 25–16) over Central Christian College at the McPherson Community Building.
The Lady Eagles came out strong, taking the first two sets with confident hitting and efficient passing. After a tight third-set loss, SCU responded with authority in the fourth, closing out the match with one of their most complete performances of the year.
Brianna DeVries led the offense with 14 kills and a stellar .324 hitting percentage, while Emery Hulme followed with 13 kills. Charlyne Dupraz added six kills and four aces, and Megan Graham posted a double-double with 17 assists and 17 digs. Ashlyn Wilkens contributed 16 assists and a pair of service aces to round out the balanced effort.
Defensively, Meghan Mitchell anchored the back row with 16 digs, while Lisa Gomez added 15.
As a team, Southwestern Christian hit an impressive .194 while totaling 81 digs and eight service aces.
With the win, the Lady Eagles improved to 1–15 overall and 1–12 in Sooner Athletic Conference play, while Central Christian fell to 3–16 (1–12 SAC). The victory marked a key step forward for SCU as they continue to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.
