Southwestern Christian University women's volleyball showed fight but fell in straight sets to Oklahoma City University (12–25, 16–25, 24–26) on Saturday morning in Bethany.
After a slow start in the opening frames, the Lady Eagles found their rhythm in the third set, rallying to push the Stars to the brink before narrowly dropping the set 26–24.
Brianna DeVries paced the offense with six kills and a .120 hitting percentage, while Margarita Vargas added five kills and Jovana Perovic chipped in four more. Freshman Alejandra Acuña made an efficient impact off the bench, posting two kills on just five swings.
Megan Graham led the team with 10 assists and 11 digs, while Meghan Mitchell added 13 digs and a service ace. Lisa Gomez contributed eight digs from the back row as SCU's defense held steady late in the match.
Despite the loss, Southwestern Christian improved its offensive efficiency in each set, finishing the match with a .123 hitting percentage, their third-best mark of the season.
The Lady Eagles moved to 1–16 overall and 1–13 in SAC play, while Oklahoma City improved to 10–10 (7–7 SAC). SCU will return to action next week looking to build on their strong third-set showing.
