Southwestern Christian University women's volleyball showed grit and determination but ultimately fell in three close sets (13–25, 15–25, 25–27) to John Brown University on Saturday afternoon at Bill George Arena.
After struggling to find rhythm early, the Lady Eagles regrouped in the third set and pushed the Golden Eagles to the limit, forcing multiple ties and lead changes before narrowly dropping the frame, 27–25.
Jovana Perovic and Margarita Vargas led SCU's attack with five kills each, while Charlyne Dupraz added four kills and an ace. Setter Megan Graham guided the offense with seven assists and 11 digs, while Meghan Mitchell contributed a strong all-around effort with four aces and 20 digs from the back row.
Defensively, the Lady Eagles held firm in the final set, limiting John Brown's attack to its lowest hitting percentage of the match and matching their intensity point-for-point down the stretch.
With the loss, Southwestern Christian moved to 0–14 overall and 0–11 in Sooner Athletic Conference play. The Lady Eagles will look to build on their competitive performance as they continue conference action next week.
