Southwestern Christian University women's volleyball turned in one of its most competitive performances of the season Tuesday night, taking a set and pushing Langston University in a 3–1 loss (25–23, 21–25, 24–26, 17–25) at the C.F. Gayles Field House.
The Lady Eagles opened strong, rallying to win the first set 25–23 behind an energetic attack led by Charlyne Dupraz, who tallied a team-high 11 kills while hitting .194. Margarita Vargas added seven kills, and Angeles Betancourt contributed six with a balanced effort at the net.
Setter Megan Graham orchestrated the offense with 11 assists, while Ashlyn Wilkens dished out 12 and added a pair of service aces. Defensively, Meghan Mitchell anchored the back row with 20 digs, and Lisa Gomez added nine more.
Despite dropping the next three sets, the Lady Eagles showed resilience, narrowly missing chances to close out both the second and third frames.
With the loss, Southwestern Christian fell to 0–15 overall and 0–12 in Sooner Athletic Conference play, while Langston improved to 9–12 (5–7 SAC). SCU will look to build on the strong showing as they continue their conference slate later this week.
