SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. — Southwestern Christian University women's soccer faced a tough test Tuesday night, falling 4–0 to No. 10-ranked John Brown University at Alumni Field.
The Lady Eagles (10-3-1, 3-3 SAC) fought hard but couldn't overcome an efficient John Brown attack that found the net twice in each half. Goalkeeper Lorelai Puglisi turned in a strong effort despite the scoreline, recording seven saves against 29 shots from the Golden Eagles.
John Brown struck first in the 12th minute when Caitlin Hilson scored off assists from Joy Long and Julia Lambert. Lambert, one of the top scorers in the Sooner Athletic Conference, doubled the lead with a penalty kick just before halftime. She added another goal in the 57th minute, and Olivia Fish capped the scoring late with a header in the 89th.
Southwestern Christian managed five total shots, two of which were on goal, led by Monse Villacres and Abbigail Johnson. The Lady Eagles showed composure under pressure, holding their defensive shape and continuing to challenge one of the nation's top teams.
SCU will look to bounce back as it continues conference play, aiming to strengthen its SAC tournament position in the final stretch of the regular season.
