PLAINVIEW, Texas — The Southwestern Christian University men's soccer team delivered a strong performance on the road Tuesday, earning a 3–1 victory over Wayland Baptist University to stay hot in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
The Eagles came out sharp, striking twice in the first half to set the tone. Louis Dufraiche opened the scoring in the 22nd minute off a setup from Gabin Desplats, who later assisted on two more goals to finish with a team-high three assists. Just five minutes later, Augustine Mateos doubled the lead with help from Shonosuke Suzuki and Desplats.
In the second half, Yuki Yabunaka added an insurance goal in the 56th minute to make it 3–0 before Wayland managed a late score.
Goalkeeper Enzo Camps made one save while the SCU defense controlled possession and limited Wayland's chances throughout the match.
With the win, Southwestern Christian improved to 7-2-2 overall and 2-1-1 in SAC play, continuing their push toward the top of the conference standings.
The Eagles will look to build on their momentum when they return home for their next matchup.
