Despite a strong start to the series, Southwestern Christian University met its match at Oklahoma City University on day two of the weekend matchup.

 

Game 2: SCU 1 - 9 OCU

 

In the first seven innings of the day, Oklahoma City was the first on the board and grabbed three runs in three innings starting in the second off of the Eagles starter Henrry Ogando. After Ogando finished the fifth inning holding the Stars to a 3-0 lead, OCU found six runs in the sixth, although managing these runs without getting any hits off of the SCU reliever Matt Gamblin. Now with a 9-0 lead, it was too little too late for the Eagles lineup which only knocked in one run in the seventh inning on a Draike Sparks double. The Eagles had four hits on the day: Sparks, Braden Browning, and two from Dario Paredes.

Game 3: SCU 2 - 13 OCU

 

The long ball proved to be the difference maker in Game 3 between SCU and OCU. The Eagles got on the board first in Game 3 when Tyler Reeves knocked in a run with a single in the third, but the Stars answered with two of their own in the bottom half of the inning. A solo homer from the Stars put them up by two in the fourth, but SCU would chip into the lead in the top of the fifth with a Jhors Gomez RBI double. Tragedy struck for the Eagles in the bottom half, however, as the Stars exploded for seven runs off Gabriel Figueroa and Connor O'Malley, including a three-run home run, even after a break in the action due to foul weather. The Eagles could not find a run in the sixth and seventh, and three more runs by the Stars would seal the deal, giving Oklahoma City the series win.

Southwestern Christian will have a small break from Sooner Athletic Conference play with their next series at Randall University in Moore, Oklahoma. The two teams will play two games on April 9th, starting at noon.
