The Southwestern Christian University Eagles lost the series against the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma this weekend by a series score of 2-1.
Â
Game 1: SCU 6 - 7 USAO
Â
Draike Sparks led off the weekend series with a bang, smashing a solo homerun out to right to put SCU up to an early lead in the first. Dario Paredes got his offense started in the same inning, knocking an RBI single to push the Eagle lead to two runs. However, the Eagles' walk troubles and some timely hits from the Drovers allowed USAO to tie and take the lead in the third inning. A double and single in the middle innings by Tyler Reeves cut into the Drovers lead, but SCU was unable to steal back the win despite a 2RBI single from Zane Bandfiled in the seventh. Mozart Duarte took the loss for SCU.

The long ball again put SCU ahead in Game 2, when Braden Browning and Zane Bandfield went back-to-back with solo shots. Dario Paredes and Matys Gagnon both grabbed an RBI in the third to keep SCU ahead of the Drover's early offensive efforts and despite the Drovers finding three runs near the to put the pressure on SCU in the last inning, Tyler Reeves hit a sacrifice fly to center, allowing SCU to grab the lead in the top of the seventh before Henrry Ogando shut the Drovers down for good. In a pitching duel to close out the series, SCU was judged barely edged out by the Drovers' offense to lose the series. Gabriel Figueroa threw all six innings for the Eagles, but an RBI single in the fifth put the Drovers up by the one run either offense would score all game. Figueroa only gave up three hits and one walk, and the one run was unearned.
