Bethany, Okla. - Southwestern Christian University was able to snap a losing streak tonight by defeating Oklahoma Panhandle State University 56-52. The victory is SCU's fourth win of the year and second SAC win.
SCU went down early against Oklahoma Panhandle State, but were able to battle back and go into the half with the lead. The Aggies would not go down without a fight, however, and when SCU started fouling players out, things were looking dicey for the Eagles. Thankfully, SCU held on in the end, and broke the three-game losing streak.
Deondre Dunn picked up 26 points and was one of only two players to knock down any threes. Dunn went 9-20 from the field, 4-9 from beyond the arc, and 4-6 from the line while grabbing 6 rebounds. Free throw shooting was a major part of the victory for SCU, as they picked up 13 points at the line while the Aggies left 14 points in the air on missed free throws.
Michal Wooldridge was SCU's next best scorer with 12,
George McCurdy had 8, and
Deuce Kennedy had five. All three players had multiple rebounds and assists, with McCurdy finding 2 steals, and Wooldridge blocking a shot.
