Eagles pull off major upset in Bethany

Bethany, Okla. - Southwestern Christian University took on the #10 Wayland Baptist University Flying Queens at home tonight, with the contest finishing 86-76 in SCU's favor. This major upset victory extends SCU's win streak to two, and earns the squad their third Sooner Athletic Conference victory.

SCU went into the half behind despite playing an extremely tough first half. Through the first two quarters, Wayland Baptist was able to pile on points with the 3PT shot while feeding the ball low to their leading scorer Megan Nestor. However, SCU was able to make the adjustment after the half and held Wayland Baptist to 1-9 from beyond the arc, while the Eagles only improved their shots as the game progressed. Two Eagles spearheaded the victory effort for SCU with 20 points each: Jayden Mason and Chrissen Harland. Mason was near perfect when shooting, only missing two shots from the field (6-8 FG) while going 2-2 from three and 6-6 from the line. She also had 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal. Harland ended the night 7-13 from the field, 1-3 from beyond the arc, and 5-6 from the line, while grabbing a rebound of her own with 2 assists and a steal. Kennedy Allison finished the night with 17 points, 1 block, 2 steals, 3 assists, and 5 rebounds in only 18 minutes. Delaney Reimer often found herself in the middle of the action, as she finished with 6 rebounds, 3 assists, a team-high 3 steals, and 11 points on 4-9 shooting from the field (2-5 3PT). Coming off the bench, Jenna Wade was a spark plug for the Eagles, finishing the night a perfect 4-4 from the field for 10 points while grabbing 2 timely rebounds. The Eagles as a team had 21 points from the free throw line, as they took advantage of the foul trouble Wayland Baptist was in early and often.
