Bethany, Okla. - Southwestern Christian University and Wayland Baptist University played an intense game today, which ended in a 4-4 tie. It continues a trend of poor home performance for the Eagles, who are now 0-5-2 when playing at Cagle Family Field this season.
Wayland Baptist got on the board first with two goals in the first half, quickly putting SCU on the back foot. However, SCU kept up the intensity, and found three goals before halftime.
Abbigail Johnson got the scoring started when she scored off an assist from
Jaina Munoz. Later, Munoz would score herself off the back of a
Hadley Mclanahan assist, and
Riley Stanfill would put the Eagles ahead before half with a goal with five seconds left. Stanfill was assisted by Johnson on her goal. In the second half, it seemed that SCU was going to continue the offensive onslaught, as
Cheyenne Paddie put SCU's fourth goal on the board. For roughly another thirty minutes after, SCU held a convincing lead. Wayland Baptist, by fighting to the end, scored 2 goals within the last ten minutes to even the game at the last second.
