Eagles broke out the Brooms for season sweep over Southwestern(KS.)

Game 1 (Win) 6-3

SCU stole the lead late in the game in a 6-3 victory over Southwestern College on Saturday.  SCU trailed 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Megan Vess homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Southwestern College fired up the offense in the first inning, when Wright singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

Addison Hanna led things off in the pitcher's circle for SCU. The lefthander went four innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out six.

Johnson led things off on the rubber for Southwestern College. Johnson lasted five and a third innings, allowing 11 hits and six runs while striking out one and walking one.  R Krame threw two-thirds of an inning out of the bullpen.

SCU smacked one home run on the day. Vess had a four bagger in the fifth inning.

SCU saw the ball well today, racking up 11 hits in the game.  Jessie Moralez, Vess, Maliyah Patton, and Alys Parr all managed multiple hits for SCU.  Moralez went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead SCU in hits.  Moralez led SCU with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with six stolen bases.

Southwestern College scattered six hits in the game.  Wright and Johnson each had multiple hits for Southwestern College.  Wright led Southwestern College with three hits in three at bats.



Game 2 (Win) 14-2 in 5 innings


Hannah Keele was an RBI machine on Saturday, driving in six on two hits to lead SCU past Southwestern College 14-2 on Saturday.  Keele drove in runs on a triple in the first and a triple in the fourth.

SCU got on the board in the first inning when R Branstetter induced Megan Vess to hit into a fielder's choice, but two runs scored.

Harli Clem got the start for SCU. The righty surrendered zero runs on three hits over four innings, striking out four and walking zero.

Branstetter was on the rubber for Southwestern College. Branstetter went two-thirds of an inning, allowing seven runs on zero hits and striking out one.  R Krame threw three and a third innings in relief.

Keele led SCU with two hits in three at bats.
