McPherson,KS.--Southwestern Christian(2-2-1, 0-0-1) notches a draw in their SAC opener against Central Christian(5-1-2) who have started the season really well, The Tigers and Eagles have had some memorable battles over the years, and Wednesday's match was certainly on par with previous meetings.
The two teams seemed to be equally matched with neither team having a decided advantage in time of possession. Statistically, the Tigers were a little better in terms of total shots, 13 to 9, but the Eagles put three shots on frame, while the Tigers on put two on goal. The stat line on corner kicks was dead even at five apiece. The Tigers played a more aggressive style, and that showed up in the stats in terms of foul count. The Tigers were credited with 13 fouls to nine for the Eagles.
Salvatore Della Vella finished the game with two saves.
Southwestern Christian returns to action at Home in Bethany,OK on Cagle Family Field on October 1st at 4:00pm against Texas Wesleyan for more Sooner Athletic Conference action.
