Heartbreaking loss ends Eagles run in SAC tournament

Chickasha,Okla.-- Southwestern Christian(23-28) went into Day two of the Sooner athletic conference on high after upsetting the Three seeded OPSU Aggies last night at 3-1, they now looked to end another teams season today playing the #6 seed SAGU Lions(29-23). sadly the cards just didn't play to our hand in the end, in a great game that went to extra innings the Lions came out on top to advance to the SAC Semi-Final matchup against #2 Seed USAO. The Eagles fell 5-4 in the 8th inning after a hard fought game.

The SAGU Lions started the scoring for the game with two runs in the bottom of the first, scoring two runs on a Double and Single to give them an early 2-0 lead. Harli Clem throwing 10 innings in Day one of the tournament decided she would throw another Gem as she kept SAGU scoreless for the next three innings, until the SCU came alive and gave her the lead in the Top of the fifth. Kirsten McKee would get Hit by a pitch with one out on the board to get an early baserunner for the Eagles. Then Megan Vess would Double to Right-Center moving McKee to third with one out. Later with two outs Jalen Durrence would get HBP to load the bases. In the Next at-bat Elisha Stilwell would hit a Double down the Left field line and clear the bases giving SCU a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth. The SAGU Lions would respond in the Bottom of the fifth with a one run to tie the game at 3-3 heading into the sixth inning. Both teams would be held scoreless in the Sixth and seventh innings as now extra innings would have to be played. Stilwell would get the Eagles started in the eighth inning with a single to Right-Center to give the Eagles an early baserunner, a SAC bunt by Madison Jones would advance the Eagle runner to second with one out, then with two outs Maliyah Patton would Double to Left-Center and score the runner from second to give the Eagles a 4-3 lead heading into the bottom of the eighth. The Lions would respond scoring a runner off a SCU Error bringing the score a 4-4 tie, then with a runner on third, one out, The SAGU Lions would hit a SAC Fly into right field and the throw from the Eagles right fielder was just bit to late and the SAGU Lions would walk-off the Eagles in Heartbreaking fashion and win in it 5-4 after eight innings.
