BETHANY, Okla.-- Southwestern Christian University escapes with a win over Oklahoma Panhandle State on Tuesday afternoon in Pickens-Springer Gymnasium. This game was the opening round of the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament.

The contest was tight throughout the first half, but a late surge allowed the Aggies take a 50-47 lead into the half. OPSU shot 32-74 from the field, 8-29 from the three point line, and 22-32 from the free throw line in this game.The game remained close in the second half as SCU was able to build that lead greater than 19 points with only 5 and a half minutes to go in the second half. 

The Eagles would change up their defensive in the second half and the Aggies had trouble scoring points once the Eagles did that. The Aggies had two guys that combined for 54 out of the 94 points. The Eagles would outscore OPSU in the second half 55-44.

 Southwestern Christian had one of their best shooting nights, The Eagles shot 35-67 from the floor averaging 52%. SCU shot 7-16 from the three point line (43%) and from the free throw line shot 25-32 (78%). Derek Dantzler led the Eagles once again in points with 19. The Eagles Out-Rebounded by the Tigers 47-28, SCU had 13 offensive rebounds and scoring 12 second chance points, The bench contributed 35 points in the effort, The Senior Derek Dantzler finished the night with 8-11 shooting, 3-4 from the free throw line, his Final stat line was, 19 pts, 9 Rebs, 1 Stl. Bralen Patterson comes off the bench contributing to the Offensive effort with 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assist. Ronald Moore finished with 15 pts, 7 Rebs, and 4 Ast, and 1 Block.

The Eagles will return to action on the road, Friday, February 25, at 8:00 PM against USAO (24-5, 19-3 SAC) in the quarterfinals of the Sooner Athletic Conference.
