Eagles survive scare in Extra-time in SAC Quarterfinals

Bethany,OK.-- (#2 seed)Southwestern Christian survive the scare against stubborn (#7 seed)Central Christian in a game that was back in forth, you could live on the edge of seat, the atmosphere at Cagle Family Field was electric and the Eagles pulled through by a score of 3-2 in Extra-Time and sent the Tigers home to advance to the SAC Tournament Semi-Finals for second year in a row. Last season the Eagles beat Texas Wesleyan 3-1 in the semis.

Central Christian would start the scoring in the 13th minute with a Goal to give the Tigers an early 1-nil lead and would take this lead heading into the break, a step close to an upset, don't forget Central Christian pulled the upset two years ago against then #1 seed SCU, but Southwestern Christian would strike back in the 52nd minute with a goal by Liam Brag to draw the game even at 1-1, his shot 22-Yards Right Side pass the Tigers GK. Central Christian would retake the advantage in the 55th minute to put the Tigers up two-one, but SCU would not go quietly in the 61st minute, Kodai Tenaka scored the Equalizer to make it a 2-2 game and the game would end and Extra-Time would have to be played to try and break this deadlock, and Kodai Tenaka would later break the deadlock with a Goal in the 96th minute to give SCU the Eagles the lead 3-2 in Extra-Time, and SCU put up some quality defense in the rest of Extra-Time to close the game out and send the Tigers packing back home.

SCU would have 30 shots on the day with 11 on Goal, while the Tigers had 20 shots with six on Goal. SCU would have the advantage in Corners (11-9 Corners). Salvatore Della Vella would have four saves on the day.

Southwestern Christian returns to action at Home in Bethany,OK on Cagle Family Field on November 8th at 2:00pm against (#3 seed)Science & Arts in the SAC Tournament Semi-Finals, for a chance to return to the SAC Tournament Championship for the second year in a row and possibly to seek Revenge against the Regular season lost to Rival MACU, but one game at a time.
