BETHANY, Okla.-- Southwestern Christian squad dropped a tough 92-90 game with Oklahoma Panhandle State on Thursday afternoon in Pickens-Springer Gymnasium.
Southwestern Christian (9-6, 7-5 SAC) came of the gates scorching the nets, dropping five from deep in the first half. They would remain hot throughout the first half, knocking down 19 from 33 from the field.
While the offense rolled through the first half, the team struggled on the other end of the floor. They would allow 17 offensive rebounds, leading to 25 extra points for OPSU (8-10,SAC 5-8). SCU's long-range shooting, and OPSU work on the offensive glass would cancel each other out as OPSU led SCU at the halftime 54 to 50.The outside shooting came back down to earth in the second half, as SCU shot just 1 for 7 from deep over the second half. The Eagles had 5 players with double digits points in tonights effort.
The Eagles would struggled to keep the lead in the final 5 minutes. It came down to the final seconds of the game to decide who was going to fight the hardest to win the game. OPSU had the last shot with 11 seconds left, They  put up a shot inside the paint but missed, OPSU rebounded the missed shot and put the ball back up and made it the basket. The clock had 1 second left and SCU could not find a way to make the basket. Â
Southwestern Christian shot great tonight, The Eagles shot 31-54 from the floor averaging 57%. SCU shot 7-14 from the three point line (50%) and from the free throw line shot 21-32 (65%). Ronald Moore led the Eagles in points tonight with 15. The Eagles were Out-Rebounded by the Tigers 22-35, SCU had only 7 offensive rebounds and scored only 10 second chance points, Ronald Moore led SCU in Rebounds with 7 points. The bench contributed 29 points in this game, Ron Washington came off the bench hot, shooting 5-10 from the floor, 4-6 from three. He had 3 rebounds and 1 assist and 14 points. The Eagles had 23 assist in the game.Â
The Eagles will return to action at Home, Saturday, January 22th, in Pickens-Springer Gymnasium at 4:00 PM against the Pioneers of Wayland Baptist (10-10, 6-7 SAC) in another Sooner Athletic Conference matchup.
